Why Wave White is a fan-led Atlanta movement calling for the retirement of the white flag from Falcons game day and for fans and the organization to create a new Atlanta-born tradition together.
The idea began with a simple contradiction: the energy in the stadium says fight, while the symbol in fans’ hands is universally associated with surrender or truce.
Why Wave White is not proposing a finished replacement. The movement is building support for retiring the current symbol and creating what comes next collaboratively.
THE IDEA
First, retire the white flag. Then, create something ours.
The goal is not to criticize Falcons fans or the organization. It is to ask whether Atlanta can create a game-day tradition that better reflects the fight, belief, pride, and identity fans are trying to express.
What replaces the white flag should belong to all of us.
FOUNDER
Roberto Torreggiani, an Atlanta Falcons season ticket holder and founder of Why Wave White. The movement began after years of watching white flags fill the stands and wondering whether Atlanta could create something more meaningful of its own.
